Rooms and Activities

Wigan Child Contact centre is based in Kildare Street Family Support Centre, which is used by Social Services for contacts on weekdays.

As you walk in you will find reception where everyone books in.

In the centre of the building is a large play area, which can accommodate several families.

Off the central area are several bays, which are suitable for one or two families. These contain a sitting area and some include a table. They are set out like a home from home.

There are plenty of toys, games, activities and books for all ages.

There is play equipment including tricyles in the secure outdoor play area, which can be accessed through several of the bays.

You can change rooms and activities throughout the session, but there are other families so you will need to be prepared to share.

There is a snack bar where you can buy tea, coffee, soft drinks, toast, sweets, crisps etc..

These are the baby changing facilities.

There is also a waiting room, close to the reception area, where resident parents can wait for their children during the contact. Most, however, choose to go home or take advantage of the nearby shopping in Hindley with its Tesco superstore and return to collect their children at the end of the contact session.
